Week 3 - Tiger Sugar

This week, I pushed through the busy streets of Green St to get to Tiger Sugar, home of the famous, original brown sugar bubble tea. This famous chain bubble tea shop has been dominating the playing field for quite some time and I was eager to find out why. Luckily, once again, there was not as many people so the I didn't have to wait long to get my drink.

Unfortunately, this store wasn't selling any classic milk tea so I decided to get their most popular item: the Brown Sugar Boba Milk + Pearl with Cream Mousse (pictured below). When I finally got to hold it, I noted how pretty the drink was; swirls and streaks of brown and white that contrasted beautifully with each other and the mass of black boba at the bottom.

The moment I took my first sip, I immediately realized that there was no tea in this drink. It tasted like sweet, condensed milk drizzled with brown sugar syrup and some other sort of sweetener. While it was delicious for the first (maybe) five sips, it quickly got overwhelmingly sweet and I developed a headache. While I can understand while others would like this since some people love sweet drinks, this is not my cup of tea (but there's no tea... get it haha)

However, I give bonus points to Tiger Sugar for using paper straws! We love eco-friendly businesses. Unfortunately, it was extremely difficult to stab the straw through the cup and the cup itself felt very flimsy. A friend had told me that her drink had once exploded since she had to exert a huge amount of force to try and get the straw through.

I give Tiger Sugar: 8/10
