Week 1 - Kung Fu Tea

This week, I went over to Kung Fu Tea* and bought a normal milk tea with 50% sweetness, no ice (ice is a scam), and tapioca pearls. Kung Fu Tea is one of the most popular places on campus to get bubble tea and the place always has a couple students milling about. When I went, the line was extremely long and I had to wait almost 15-20 minutes to order and receive my drink.

The drink itself was quite good - I personally really enjoyed the ratio of bitterness to sweetness as I could still taste the tea and have the smoothness of milk complement it. The tapioca pearls were decent - bouncy and chewy with the slightest amount of stick to the teeth. It's important for the pearls to not be soggy or undercooked or else the entire experience will be underwhelming. Kung Fu Tea has a normal price for bubble tea - around 5-6 dollars for a medium and 6-7 dollars for a large. While it can still seem like waste for a measly drink, in terms of bubble tea, the price is actually pretty good.

The only downside of Kung Fu Tea I can think of is that sometimes the milk powder is not completely blended into the drink, leaving me with a mouthful of powder. However, the drink this time was well mixed and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I give Kung Fu Tea: 8.7/10

*I forgot to take a picture :( so I took one off the internet.

  1. Bubble tea is a complicated food, tough to do justice to in writing, and I really like your description of "bouncy and chewy with just the right amount of stick to the teeth." Yep, I can picture that perfectly.

  2. I agree, KFT is a scam because you just a bunch of watered-down powder. But we like to waste our money, so we go there anyways
